The Department of Infrastructure of the ECOWAS Commission, given the multimodal and multisector potential of the Dakar-Abidjan Multimodal Corridor (DAMC), is using the Acceleration process to map out all possible Sub-Corridor anchor projects in the following sectors: Cross-Border Infrastructure Gender Mainstreaming, Energy, Telecoms, Transport and Trans-Boundary Water Resources. This is being done under a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed between ECOWAS and NEPAD Planning and Coordination Agency (NPCA) in March 2015, for capacity building on the Program for Infrastructure Development for Africa (PIDA) Implementation, which intends to replicate the successes recorded under the Africa Strategic Infrastructure Initiative (ASII) for PIDA acceleration.

The Dakar-Lagos Corridor has been selected as a key priority under the ECOWAS Community Development Programme (CDP). The Corridor is also featured in Priority Action Plan of the Program for Infrastructure Development for Africa (PIDA-PAP) and its tagged Trans-African Highway No. 7 on the continental Trans-African Highway (TAH) Network which seeks to interconnect all capital cities and key economic zones on the African Continent.

The Workshop will be attended by Experts from the Transport, Energy, ICT and Water sectors of all the Corridor Member States long the Dakar-Abidjan Corridor (Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Cote d’Ivoire & Cape Verde). Also in attendance will be Experts from sub-regional bodies like WAPP, OMVG, Mano River Union (MRU), PPDU, EBID, UEMOA and ECOWAS Water Resource Center.
