President de Souza led a team of ECOWAS Senior management officials for a courtesy visit to the Nigerian minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama on the 22^nd of April 2016, in recognition of the great role Nigeria plays in the advancement of the integration of the West African region.

Similarly, the Chairman of the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA) Professor Honoré Bogler conferred with the ECOWAS Commission President de Souza at the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja to discuss how to advance the cause of the regulation of cross-border electricity interconnections in West Africa. Deliberations held in view of the fact that a standard electricity regulatory format would engender greater energy access for the region.

Earlier, President de Souza held discussions with the ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea Jong Yong Chol to explore ways of greater collaboration in identified areas of mutual interest. The visit of the Korean delegation is in tandem with the existing cordial relations between the Commission and South Korea
