The West African Health Organisation (WAHO) is seeking to hire an individual consultant as a Professional Officer, funded by NPCA (NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency), for vector control strategies in the fight against malaria.
The overarching objective of this post is to coordinate and facilitate the development and implementation of the West African Integrated Vector Management (WAIVM) initiative, working in conjunction with WAHO. The terms of reference intends to facilitate the selection of a qualified consultant as professional officer who will be located in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso and will effectively support WAHO’s malaria and communicable diseases prevention unit.
Duration
The position is a six (6) month consultancy funded by NPCA (NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency).
Profile
Specifically, the consultant will:
- Coordinate the establishment of a regional inter-sectoral regulatory platform for IVM in the West African Region;
- Support implementation of regulatory capacity strengthening programmes on emerging health technologies with focus on vector control technologies;
- Contribute to the establishment of regional structures for regulating vector control technologies;
- Facilitate implementation of harmonized regulatory systems for emerging technologies of public health relevance in the West African Region;
- Facilitate and support the functioning, alignment of programmes and information sharing between health regulators, agriculture and environmental regulators and other relevant stakeholders across countries in the West African region through development and implementation of harmonized guidelines and other technical requirements and documents;
- Support and conduct joint scientific assessment of applications, information and work sharing with ultimate reliance of regulatory decisions based on the outcome of joint work;
- Support the coordination of study tours for key stakeholders at political, regulatory, scientific and community levels;
- Support engagement of communities, stakeholders and the public through outreach and education;
- Facilitate assessment of regulatory capacity and monitoring and evaluation of regulatory interventions in the West African Region;
- Prepare prompt reports on the activities for submission to NPCA (NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency);
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.

The West African Health Organisation (WAHO) invites qualified individuals consultants to express their interest in providing the aforementioned services.

- a letter of expression of interest stating the post advertised;
- a detailed, dated and signed Curriculum Vitae, highlighting qualifications and experience related to the attached TORs, including references.
