ECOWAS STANDBY FORCE TRAINS EVALUATION TEAM AHEAD OF COMMAND POST EXERCISE
The ECOWAS Standby Force (ESF) will train a team of evaluators for its Command Post Exercise (CPX) code name JIGUI IV which is scheduled to hold in 2018.
The 5-Day training holding from the 21st to 25th of August 2017, at the Ecole de Maintien de la Paix Alioune Blondin BEYE in Bamako, Mali is meant to equip the evaluators with the necessary skills and technics to conduct an evaluation of the exercise.
Among others, the training will ensure that members of the evaluation team develop an evaluation report and convene an After-Action- Review (AAR) of the CPX.
Furthermore, participants will confirm the Terms of Reference for the ESF team of evaluators and develop the evaluation manual for the CPX.
The objective of the CPX is to assess the capability of the ESF to conduct strategic and operational level planning for multidimensional operations and to exercise Command and Control of deployed forces on a simulated ECOWAS/ African Union (AU) mandated Peace Support Operation.
Participants of the evaluation course will be drawn from ESF, Subject Matter Experts, ECOWAS Training Centers of Excellence, Member States as well as partners such as the United Nations, AU, International Committee of the Red Cross and the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM).
