 ECOWAS President Visits ERERA Headquarters
President de Souza at the ERERA premises...in Accra.
President of the ECOWAS Commission, Marcel Alain de Souza, visited the offices of the ECOWAS Regional Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERERA), on Thursday, 11th August 2016 in
Accra, Ghana.
It was President de Souza’s first visit to ERERA since he assumed duty in April 2016.
He made the visit on the sidelines of the tripartite United Nations, African Union and ECOWAS high-level mission to Ghana on the 2016 elections. President de Souza and Dr. Remi Ajibewa (2nd and 3rd left, respectively), with ERERA staff.
Expressing appreciation to ERERA staff for the warm reception, President de Souza described ERERA as an important institution of ECOWAS, tasked with contributing to finding solutions to
the energy crisis in West Africa. President de Souza in a lighter mood with ERERA staff.
Further addressing the staff, he spoke of ECOWAS gender policy, and added that the appointment of President Ellen Sirleaf Johnson of Liberia as Chair of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government was evidence of the importance ECOWAS attaches to
gender issues within its institutions.
President de Souza was accompanied by the Director of Political Affairs, Dr. Remi Ajibewa.
