ECOWAS, EU partner to train Journalists on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
DAKAR, Senegal, June 20, 2016
The ECOWAS Commission in collaboration with the ECOWAS Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and the European Union (EU) is organizing a 2-day capacity building workshop for journalists from eight West African countries, including Ghana, Nigeria, Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Benin, Gambia, Mali and Burkina Faso, on issues relating to renewable energy and energy efficiency in Dakar, Senegal from 22nd – 23rd June, 2016. The programme aims to, among others, promote one fully-integrated and consolidated Communication through all ECREEE’s programs as a key component to support the fulfilment of the strategic priority areas, with the solid cooperation of relevant networks and taskforces, including the ECREEE Communication Group, the West Africa Network of Journalists in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, and the National Focal Institutions Network of Focal Persons for Communication, working actively across ECOWAS countries to foster Sustainable Energy for All. The workshop will be held under the framework of the ECREEE Communication and Technical Cooperation Program established to strengthen the cooperation and communication agenda with various local and international partners so as to implement its mandate more effectively as well as to strengthen the network of National Focal Institutions. This is to be achieved through regular coordination meetings in order to provide effective and quality services for all programs in terms of visibility, public information, awareness and knowledge management to facilitate the achievement of ECREEE’s goals in Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency promotion and expansion in West Africa and globally.
