ECOWAS-development partners annual coordinating meeting holds in Abuja

The 11th edition of the ECOWAS-Developing Partners Annual Coordinating Meeting is holding in Abuja on the 16th and 17th of November 2015.

The meeting is a platform that enables the ECOWAS Commission and its institutions to have a healthy interface with the Development Partners with regards to the coordination and deepening of regional integration.

Under the watch of the President of the Commission Kadré Désiré Ouédraogo, the meeting would among others, strengthen political dialogue for the creation of better response mechanisms relating to regional priorities including the need to anticipate the prospect of support from partners in the framework of the implementation of the regional agenda.

The meeting would review the status of the ECOWAS regional integration process with a prospective view of post ECOWAS at 40. There would also be an appraisal of the strategic framework, reforms and financial performances.

An important segment of the meeting features a panel discussion on peace and regional security situation with a critical look at the challenges and prospects of the security situation in West Africa.

Additionally, there would also be a broad review the progress of the integration process, the institutional reforms as well as the achievements and challenges.

During the meeting, the status of implementation and monitoring of commitments made by the parties would be verified while opportunities for improved partnerships are to be identified and leveraged on
