ECOWAS declaration on the violent attacks in Mali
The ECOWAS Commission condemns, in the strongest terms, the recent consecutive violent attacks in Mali which resulted in several fatalities, including a UN Peacekeeper.
Both attacks are particularly discouraging as they come in the wake of a preliminary Peace Accord aimed at paving the path for sustainable peace in Mali.
The ECOWAS Commission strongly deplores these unpatriotic acts of violence and enjoins all armed groups in Mali to take the path of dialogue.
ECOWAS commiserates with all the families of the affected victims, stands in solidarity with MINUSMA and takes this opportunity to salute the Peacekeepers in Mali for their courage and service.
ECOWAS reiterates its support to the Government and people of Mali and remains actively seized of the situation in the country.
