ECOWAS condemns the attack by boko haram in N’djamena, Republic of Chad
ECOWAS has learnt with grave concern, the recent attack by Boko Haram sect in N’djamena, where over 20 people have been reported dead, with several others injured and buildings and properties destroyed. While strongly condemning these appalling, barbaric and despicable acts and wanton disregard for human life and property, the President on behalf of the ECOWAS Community extends solidarity and heartfelt sympathy to the government and people of the Republic of Chad and the bereaved families. ECOWAS reiterates its commitment to work with the Lake Chad Basin Member States in the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) and all stakeholders to halt these horrendous terrorist attacks that continue to pose great threats to the peace, security and stability of the region and the continent, and welcomes efforts by the African Union, the Lake Chad Basin Commission and others in this regard. |
