Monrovia, Liberia -Wednesday, December 14, 2016: The Chairperson of the Authority of ECOWAS Heads of State and Government, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has commented on ECOWAS Mediating Mission compromising the current Chair of the Authority, Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Ghanaian President, John Dramani Mahama, Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari and Sierra Leonean President, Ernest Bai Koroma following consultations in Banjul on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 to support the ongoing process of democratization in the country.

 

 

According to an Executive Mansion release, the Mission met twice with President Yahya Jammeh and had consultations with President-elect Adama Burrows and leaders of the Opposition Coalition as well as the Independent Electoral Commission, and the Security Chiefs.

 

President Sirleaf said those consulted including President Jammeh gave their commitment to preserve the peace and stability of the nation as we work together for a successful transition in accordance with the expressed will of the people of The Gambia through free and fair elections.

 

 

The Mediation effort of ECOWAS will continue toward the achievement of that goal, the release concluded.
