ECOWAS appoints Mbaye as permanent representative to Côte d’Ivoire

Ambassador Carlos Babacar Mbaye, the newly appointed Permanent Representative of the President of Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to Cote d’Ivoire has since resumed duties having presented his letter of credence to authorities in Abidjan on the 6th of April 2016.

Ambassador Mbaye’s accreditation instruments were presented to the Ivorian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdallah Albert Toikeusse Mabri at a ceremony attended by members of the Cabinet of the Minister and staff in charge of African organizations.

Giving insights into his charge as the regional group’s envoy to Cote d’Ivoire, ambassador Mbaye disclosed that he intends to work resolutely to consolidate and amplify the excellent achievements made through the cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and ECOWAS in the pursuit of the mandate given to the permanent Representatives in the Member States, at the 44th ordinary Summit of the Heads of State and Government in Yamoussoukro on 28th and 29th of March 2014.DSC_8277He said was particularly “honored and pleased to serve regional integration in Ivory Coast, because of the commitment of this country in this noble cause and the quality of the contribution that its leaders and cadres have always given to the conduct of all community projects, including the preservation of peace and the promotion of democracy and good governance”

Giving his traditionally warm response, Dr. Mabri congratulated ambassador Mbaye on his appointment and wished him success. The Minister of also assured Mbaye of the full support of his Ministry in the conviction that the activities of the Permanent Representation would contribute to strengthening the excellent cooperation between the Coast Ivoire and ECOWAS.
