ECOWAS Commission organizes the constitutive meeting of support structures for Regional Quality Infrastructure

Abuja, Nigeria. 4th November 2017 – The Commission of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission organizes, from 6 to 9 November 2017 in Abuja, Nigeria, the constitutive meeting of support structures for the Regional Quality Infrastructure.

The main objective is to proceed with the setting up of the Regional Accreditation System (RAS) and Community Committees such as the Community Committee for Metrology (CCM), the Community Committee for Conformity Assessment (CCCA) and the Community Committee for Technical Regulation (CCTR).

The Regional Accreditation System and Committees will be composed of representatives of ECOWAS Member States, private sector associations and consumer rights protection bodies recognized by the ECOWAS Commission.

At this constitutive meeting, participants will also adopt the 2017 – 2018 work plans; review the profiles for the position of secretary and adopt the rules of procedures.

In addition to the Commission, the meeting will bring together all the delegates from the 15 ECOWAS Member States.
